Fletcher Cox

Perth-born trumpeter Fletcher Cox began playing the trumpet at age 10, despite desperately wanting to learn the guitar. Luckily, persisting with the trumpet has seen him study under some of Australia’s best, including Brent Grapes, Tristram Williams and David Elton.

Fletcher received his Bachelor’s degree in 2015 at the University of Western Australia, graduating having won the VOSE Memorial Concerto Prize. The following year he moved to Melbourne to study at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), where he worked with musicians from around the world to hone his skills and further his love of solo, orchestral and chamber music. He was also the Trumpet Fellow from 2020-2021 in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s Fellowship program.

Professionally, Fletcher has performed with the West Australian, Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras as well as the Opera Australia Orchestra, including appearances as guest principal trumpet. Fletcher is also a founding member of Golden Gate Brass and has made multiple appearances as an artist at the Canberra International Music Festival.
